Trademark Policy
Last Update: April 2026
This policy explains how Ops.Tools reviews reports involving trademarks, brand impersonation, confusing account identifiers, and unauthorized use of protected marks.
What May Violate This Policy
Using a business name, logo, domain, username, team name, or other brand asset in a way that is likely to mislead users about affiliation, sponsorship, source, or endorsement may violate this policy.
What Usually Is Not a Violation
Fair use, nominative use, commentary, compatibility references, ordinary dictionary-word use, and account identifiers that happen to match a trademark are not automatically violations. We review context, evidence of confusion, intent, and the requested remedy.
How We May Respond
- Ask for more information from the reporting party or account holder.
- Require profile, account, or content changes to reduce confusion.
- Restrict, suspend, rename, or remove an account or identifier when misuse is clear.
- Decline requests that are unsupported, overbroad, or outside the scope of trademark law.
How to Report a Trademark Concern
Submit trademark reports through the contact form using a company email address when possible. Include enough detail for us to evaluate the request.
Information to Include
- Your name, title, company, mailing address, phone number, and email address.
- The trademarked word, phrase, logo, or other protected mark.
- Trademark registration number and registration office, if available.
- The Ops.Tools account, page, identifier, or content you are reporting.
- Why the use creates confusion or misrepresents affiliation.
- The action you are requesting.
- A statement that you have a good faith belief the reported use is not authorized by the trademark owner, its agent, or law.
- A statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are the trademark owner or authorized to act for the owner.
- Your physical or electronic signature.
Inactive or Reserved Identifiers
If the concern involves an inactive account or reserved identifier, review our Inactivity Policy. We may consider inactivity as part of the review, but we do not guarantee transfer or release of any identifier.
